The Thai alphabet was invented in 1283 by King Ramkhamhaeng the Great of Sukhothai and, to celebrate its 730-year history, the BMA initiated the Thai Script: A 730-year History Project in 2013, under which two publications were produced:
Communicating with the Thai Alphabet… from the Years Past to the Present
The book chronicles various types of documents that Thai people have been using to record and communicate their knowledge, culture, and beliefs up to the present day.
Thai Scripts: A 730-year History
The book narrates the history and evolution of written languages, especially the Thai alphabet and dialectal Thai scripts.
