• A new route linking Bangkok and Thonburi
  • 3 Systems in 1 Project
  • Built over an existing route to minimize appropriation costs
  • An integrated approach involving numerous government agencies

“...there really aren't that many expressways in Thonburi. Around Putthamonthon and in northern Thonburi, there are a lot of new housing estates, but there aren't any expressways. One of the reasons is that the economic crisis brought construction to a halt. So in thinking about how to build new roads quickly and economically, without having to appropriate a lot of private land, which is very costly in Bangkok , we started looking at the railway lines. It's possible to build a new expressway from Chatuchak along the train tracks past Rama VI Road and across the river to Thonburi, around the Southern Bus Terminal towards Bang Plat. Once this new expressway is completed, it should help to relieve traffic congestion in Thonburi.”
